What would you say if you meet Carl Sagan

What would you say if you met Carl Sagan?

The one of the most loves of my life is in front of me, waiting for me to talk? Whoa! Whoa! Wow! That is a great question. I don’t know if I could act normally in front of him, most likely, I guess I’ll be tongue tied and run out of words to say.

First off, okay, I would say what a great human being you are. Let me bear your sixth child? LOL! That was a ridiculous thing to ask. But seriously, I would tell him that! No offense Ms. Ann Druyan.

Carl will say no! I’m just being delusional, so why would I waste my time asking him that stupid thing. Forgive me.

Okay! I’ll start all over again.

Hi Mr. Carl Sagan, you don’t have any idea how I feel right now that I had a chance to meet you. It’s incredible. You didn’t know me but I know you, sort of, not well enough. Anyway, I’ve watched your Cosmos series and I considered it as one of the greatest series of all time. I’m not saying this to impress you, I’m saying this ‘because it is true. And I’m pretty sure you are aware of how great you are. I remember the very 1st episode of The Cosmos; a man in a light brown suit calmly explained and illustrated artificial selection using Heikegani – a species of crab native to Japan, with a shell that bears a pattern resembling a warrior face. Because of the belief that these crabs carry the soul of the Heike warriors who died during the Battle of Dan-no-ura- they opted not to kill them when caught while fishing. This group of people particularly selected them to thrive. Which for me is a great example to teach what artificial selection is for everyone. A man who brought us science in a language that we actually understood. Right there and then, I was hooked. You did a great job here on Earth, undeniably. Thank you for fighting for science, for fighting for the truth. You taught us to think for ourselves or we are just up for grabs by charlatans.

You are one of my science geniuses, my hero who was responsible for my Cosmos consciousness. This awareness of mine has changed my perspective radically. From being nationalist (as a former idealist) to a human being who looks at the earth as one nation, as a whole, as a pale blue dot. Through this lens, you can see how fragile humans can be. Our ego was not visible in space and I think it is important to bury this in our minds as a constant reminder. It’s inspired me to look differently at my place in the universe and accept how insignificant we are.  I became what you called a child of cosmos. Your ideology is far more marvelous across the globe than you have ever imagined it.

It touches my heart in every possible way, which is not unlikely to happen – because you’re such an impressive teacher. I even hope that your Cosmos series could make its way to every home television or even have a part of the syllabus in every nation’s educational system. When that day comes, hopefully, that would be one of the greatest things to happen on Earth.

I’m hoping that I’ll meet a guy just like you. Imagine if all the political leaders around the world could somehow think exactly just like the way you think, this will be a better place sir.

Why so soon, sir? Why did you leave us so soon? I know you are now in the depths of the cosmic arena that you have always dreamt to become a part of.

‘Cos we changed, I changed.

Blank memories came down upon my head

I don’t want to live a life with difficulties

Feels like choosing between Pink Floyd, Ledzepellin, and The Beatles,

Which one is the greatest? Which one is the best?

I don’t know, but I often hate what I’ve become

What do I have now? More analysis and technicalities

Painful. Maybe if I choose to stay in my black and white bubble,

I have got nothing to worry about and nothing to blame.

Who breaks my heart? It’s the new me.

People get weirder and weirder, they are now all strangers

Strangers staring back at you with blank expressions and judging you.

I love the old me, but I know I can’t ever return.

Giant two days of island hopping. It reminds me that the world still a better place at Honda bay. The fist two islands was remarkable; swimming with fishes and feeding them. Snorkeling to view the heart-stopping beautiful coral reefs. Nothing beats an extreme adventure  (Zipline.. Caving – just what I needed) at Ugong rock.

Crocodile meat (it’s kinda sad that in order to feed us, something so young and in the prime of its life has to die – and yeah – we eat them lol) Halayang ube.. Sotanghon guisado.. Seafood wakes my sexy ass up at Kinabuchs. We now know the wonders of the Underground river. A bunch of silent giggles at the swimming pool (11pm disturbing noises is a crime. Damn! I’d tell you it was hard for crazy girls like us we can’t help it at the Blue lagoon suites.

Let me tell you my story of struggles a few days Before this trip:

Struggle no. 1- as you can see this trip was scheduled for the 7th to 9th of Dec. -same date with Elton John and Sting’s concert. There’s no way we can move it next weekend because that was our Xmas party ( apparently I gave them up. Hopefully they’ll come back next year) Continue reading “Pre-Apocalypse Vacation in Palawan”
